Fasching here in Germany is similar to our Mardi Gras celebration. Everyone dresses up and there are lots of parties and parades. The Fasching season actually lasts for months, but is in full swing in February. This is when the majority of the parades are. The schools all celebrate the holiday, and get to dress up.
Cooper's school had a full-day celebration.
And the following week, the elementary had a parade as well.
Cooper didn't want to take part in the parade. He only wanted to watch.
This is Frau Keen, our Host Nations teacher. She is from Germany, and teaches the kids culture and customs from our area.
And this is the German band that led the parade. They were a lot of fun.
