Day 141, May 21
I drive past this spot almost everyday, and I am constantly telling myself that I should stop and take a picture. I have been wondering exactly what this marker is. There are so many Catholic markers here in Bavaria, all in completely random places, and I assumed this was the same thing. I was wrong. It is a headstone, in the middle of a field.

Day 142, May 22
I got the chance to shoot some family photos (other than my own) today, and had a great time. My friend Kay and her family are wonderful. Her husband is leaving later this month for his deployment, so I was happy to get some great shots for them. This was my favorite of the day, though. It kind of says to me, "I love you, this will be ok."

Day 143, May 23
Ants.
Well, THIS is not an ant... obviously.
My living room was invaded by the small pic-nic go-ers, and after I traced back to the beginning of the ant line, I found a small crack in the base of the floor that wasn't completely sealed. So my mad-caulking skills were used today.

Day 144, May 24
What a cute little butt.
Something about this shot just says 'little boy' to me.

Day 145, May 25
I wish I could say todays shot is amazing and inspiring and creative.
It is none of those.
I learned this morning that my friend back home died the morning before, and all day I was a mess. Near the end of the day, I remembered I needed to take a shot, and this is all I could do.

Day 146, May 26
Same crane as the picture before.
On the way home from the bus stop, all the kids stopped to gawk at the crane moving, and the operator was nice enough to let each of the kids have a turn running it. That crane was flying everywhere! But they all had a great time, even if I feared for my life at some points.

Day 147, May 27
.
Muffin-tin pic-nic.
I wish I could say I came up with this.
I'm not even close to this creative.
Left-overs, packages with a few crackers left... anything goes with this kind of pic-nic.
(Those slimy looking limp-sticks are hot dogs, cut like french fries. I know, gross.)

Stringer Family Video

Art and Kay Plus Two

I had the chance to take some family pictures for my friend, Kay, this morning. She has the most gorgeous red hair I have ever seen; you know, the kind you pay tons of money for, but hers is real! This color added so much to the pictures.
Her husband is deploying later this week, so I was glad to get some good shots in before he leaves.

Art and the boys.

I told them to "be in love." I think they pulled it off.

More of Mr. S.

This is my absolute FAVORITE of the day.

Day 134, May 14
Cooper got new shoes today.
Spiderman shoes.
He shows everyone he meets these amazing new shoes, and only takes them off to sleep or bathe, both against his will.

Day 135, May 15
I have been scoping out some places to take some family pictures for a friend. I was checking out a spot and noticed these new buds on the pine trees.

Day 136, May 16
We now have a new (to us) swing set. It has a little clubhouse, swings, a slide and this ladder. For those of you who know Noah, this has his name all over it.

Day 137, May 17
Orange Pancakes.
This is actually my favorite way to eat pancakes. You get your fruit, some juice, and of course, sugar.
Mmmmm...
Here's the recipe.

Day 138, May 18
I love my umbrella.
It's so bright, especially on such rainy and dreary days as we have had lately.
I'm not sure Summer will ever come.

Day 139, May 19
Do you see the tear in my contact?
That little tear caused more pain in my eye than, well... I don't know what.
But it hurt. For 8 hours, until I could get home to change it.
Incidentally, this came out of my right eye, which is the eye I use for taking pictures.
I took this with my left eye.
Does that make me ambi-eyed?

Day 140, May 20
Ten years ago today my husband gave me this diamond band. He proposed while we jumped out of a plane. Scroll down to see pictures of that. The ring was 2 sizes too big, but I didn't care. It was also supposed to just be an "engagement" ring, however I was so in love with it, I kept it for my wedding ring.
He did a great job for picking it out all by himself.

Leap Of A Lifetime

Ten years ago today, I woke up knowing that I was going to be jumping out of a plane with a boy I was completely in love with. What I didn't know was that this same boy had bigger plans...

Pete and I had planned to go skydiving with some friends who were avid divers. We were both so excited, and honestly, there was no nervousness from either of us.
When we arrived at the airport there was a lot of whispering between the pilot, Pete, the other divers, the camera man, and Pete's best friend. I didn't think anything of it.

We don't have any pictures of Pete jumping because the camera man jumped with me. And, yes... we have an awesome video of this whole thing.

Just before this shot was taken, Pete leaned over to me in the plane and yelled "WILL YOU MARRY ME?"
I laughed at him.
In my defense, we were jumping out of a plane! Who wouldn't say something stupid and irrational?

Pete landed first, then I followed. He rushed up to me, got down on one knee and proposed.
He really was serious.

The ring was a little too big, but I didn't care. It was perfect.
And we have the whole thing on tape.

I LOVE YOU PETE!

Day 127, Day 7
As Cecily so nicely put it: "These guys are my other boyfriends!"
I had a rough day.
Pete left for his deployment, I was grieving for a neighbor,
and I got my fine for the fence incident: 250 Euro. That's about $375.
I cried a lot today.
Ben and Jerry helped a little bit.

Day 128, May 8
My wonderful friend brought me a deployment survival kit.
This was my favorite part.
Not because I like lifesavers (which by the way, I do!), but because it reminded me that although the next little bit will be rough, I can still help others.

Day 129, May 9
Mother's Day.
I set up the tri-pod to catch a loving, tender moment with my children.
This is what I got.

Day 130, May 10
I thought all day about taking a picture, and at about 8 pm I finally did it.
Sorry it's so boring. Most of my shots looked like crud. So you get to see the rail on my front porch.

Day 131, May 11
This is my backyard.

Ok, maybe not. But my backyard is starting to resemble this due to all the rain we have had.
These are dandelions, and there are so many fields that look like this. We also have fields full of rapeseed, which are also yellow, so a drive through Bavaria right now is very, very bright.

Day 132, May12
1 cute kid
+ 1 snotty nose
+ lots of playing outside
= THIS

Day 133, May 13
How do you grieve for someone who lost a child in her 39th week of pregnancy?
This week, I am learning how.
Our friend and neighbor gave birth to a stillborn last week, and we have all been grieving since. Dinners were planned, arrangements for her other children were made, and a memorial service took place.
I am sure I will write more about this when I figure out the right words.
Tonight was my turn to take dinner, and I took this little stitching as well.
Baby Piwe, we will miss you.
