PSF/Project 365, Week 4

PhotoStory Friday

Sorry everyone... I'm lazy, so I combined the two this week.

Day 22, January 22
The one part of my camera that never gets any credit...

Day 23, January 23
We bought some furniture today. It's very large. It's also very detailed. Once it's all put in it's place, I'll make sure to post pictures.

Day 24, January 24
More food.
Peach Pork Chops and Rice.
I made enough to feed an army.
It was all eaten. By missionaries.
Want to make it? Here's the recipe.

Day 25, January 25
The ONLY picture I took the whole day.
And Coop's eyes look slightly evil.

Day 26, January 26
I pulled off to the side of the road and snapped a few pictures. The thing about Bavaria is that there are so many roads and trails to take, and you may not have a clue where you are going to end up.

Day 27, January 27
I have wanted to take a picture of this for a while now. It is at the entrance to a city called Mantel, which is a city I drive through almost every day. In fact, the city itself might be my favorite so far. Maybe it's just the road I drive. It's seems so old to me, although I don't think it's much older than the city that I live in. This is the city where you can always find the old man walking around in his leiderhosen. It's awesome.

Day 28, January 28
Breaks Up Mucus.
Can you tell by the picture where this sticker was placed?
Pete and I have had an on-going "joke" involving this sticker. It came off of a cough syrup bottle. We take turns sticking it somewhere for the other person to find. It has made it on to bars of soap, deodorant, ring holders, inside drawers, toothbrushes and combs.
But my last place was the best.
The reaction on his part involved a very loud laugh.

Just Wanted To Mention...

It's really cold (but really pretty) here.

PhotoStory Friday: Well, Shock Me

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and Michelle

This statue was given to me by Pete this year for Christmas.
The picture in the background was taken on our wedding day, August 18, 2000 by Chris, my brother-in-law.
I am reminiscing about our wedding day, and thinking ahead to our ten-year anniversary in 6 months because Pete won't be with me for it.
He is being deployed.

And we are shocked.

Now, I know some of you are thinking, "What do you mean you are shocked. You're in the Army."
We were told, because of the unit he is in- A complete dental unit- he would only be deployed under two circumstances.
Neither of those circumstances is the reason he is going.
The kicker is that he is leaving in 6 weeks.
Most people get 6-12 months to prepare for this. So along with all the legal junk that has to happen, we have to prepare our kids for their daddy to be gone.
At the moment, all we know is that it is a 6 month deployment, which we can both handle, and is actually the best situation for the circumstance we are in. We have a meeting next week to learn more about it.
I will keep everyone updated as we find out, and as information comes to us (at least the stuff we can share).
And as much as I want to whine about it, I have no room. Everyone here has or will have a husband deployed, and for much longer than mine will be gone.
So. No. Whining.

Day 15: January 15

I was about to get in the truck and run my last-minute errands before flying back to Germany, and noticed the fence. I LOVE seeing the world frosted.

Day 16: January 16

My dad bought a new truck about a month before I flew to Utah. I have always loved trucks; my first vehicle was an old, beat-up Ford that I would have kept forever if it was possible. After that, I owned a few smaller trucks, but have yet to buy my dream truck (I still don't even know what it is yet). For now, driving my dad's new truck will have to do.

Day 17: January 17

I flew home from Utah today. Actually, I left on Saturday and arrived home Sunday. Stupid time difference.
I came home to this sign, and could have cried with happiness.

Day 18: January 18

We are training plumbers at our house.
Annie decided to go outside and play in the snow, but she only had her strumpfhosen (tights) on. With no pants to keep the tights up, well....

Day 19: January 19

More food. So far I have done this every week, so maybe I will keep it going.
Crockpot Stroganoff and rolls with honeybutter.
The honeybutter is a hit around these parts. Missionaries and single soldiers alike are in love with it. In fact, the missionaries came over for dinner last night, and when I asked them if they wanted pasta or pancakes, they responded with, "whichever one we can put honeybutter on."
Want the recipe for the Stroganoff? Here it is.
Want the honeybutter? Here's that recipe.

Day 20: January 20

This is how milk is sold here in Germany. It doesn't need to be stored in the fridge until it's been opened, so we are able to buy it in bulk and store it. We buy 24 liters and store it.
Oh, and as far as the taste goes, we think it's better than the good ole' American milk.

Day 21: January 21

My favorite shirt.
Not just my favorite T-shirt, but my favorite shirt.
It's from our Relay For Life last summer, raising money for Cancer research.
We may not have brought in the most money, but we sure had the biggest team; all of us had been affected by cancer in some way.
And, yes, I'm doing it again this summer.

Andrew and Michelle

Last Thursday, my youngest brother-in-law Andrew, and his fiancee Michelle, were married in the Bountiful temple. This was the entire reason for my trip to Utah last week. The ceremony, lunch and reception were just beautiful; I helped out with as much as I could. I ended up being a "pretend" photographer, just following Chris (the actual photographer) around the whole time.

Coming out of the temple.

They did a lot of this...

Like I said, lots of kissing.

She had the most beautiful dress.

One of my favorites.

What a stud. I was waiting for him to pop a cap in someone.

Again, a beautiful dress.

I noticed their reflection in the temple window and starting snapping shots like crazy.

The cake.

The refreshments: Juice, water and Ice Cream Sundaes.

No good pictures of the actual cake fight. But it was Awesome.

Tossing the garter.

These are Andrews boys. They destroyed the car... with bologna.

Day 8 : January 8th

This is my carry-on. Notice anything wrong with the wheels?

This made for a very noise walk through the airport. On this day, I broke down and bought a new carry-on.

With round wheels.

Day 9: January 9th

This sticker is on the back of my dad's truck.

Some days I wish I could have this tattooed on my forehead.

Day 10: January 10th

All you fans of Chris, over at Life or A Reasonable Facsimile, will enjoy this.

This is what Chris does in his spare time: pretending to be a bird on the Wii, while sticking his tongue out with concentration.

Day 11: January 11th

Connor-Man.

I love this little boy. He is the son of my very best friend, Mandie. I was around when he was born, and he played with my kids while we lived in Milwaukee. He has some of the best eyes out there.

Oh, and he does a viscious dinosaur impression.

Day 12: January 12th

Texas Roadhouse Rolls.

Need I say more?

Day 13: January 13th

In the process of making food for the wedding luncheon the next day. This is what the dressing looks like, before I sent it through the blades of the blender.

Want the recipe for this? Here it is.

Day 14: January 14th

My brother-in-law, Andrew, and his sweet fiancee Michelle are getting married today. One of my jobs was to make the glass flutes pretty... how did I do?
