Congratulations, Dr. Pete

Well, it's official- Pete is now a dentist! We are so excited! Graduation was this weekend, and what a weekend it was! We had both sets of parents here for many activities, and by Tuesday when everyone left, we were both exhausted. Here's the low-down on the activities...

Saturday night was Pete's Hooding Ceremony. This is best described as a right of passage into the dental community. It was in the beautiful Jesuit Church located just east of Marquette University. The pictures I have added don't do it justice. Pete was hooded by one of the Dental Professors, who placed a beautiful lilac colored hood on his robe. The inside of the robe was blue and gold, the colors of Marquette. After the ceremony, there was a reception at the school, and the families that were there got to tour the school. There was also more food there than anybody could eat.









Sunday morning was Commencement, and man was it long! It was a great opportunity though, because that will never happen again. When the dental school was announced as "graduated", the entire group stood up and sprayed sillystring and glitter everywhere. It was such a mess, and I was feeling bad for the poor people who had to clean it up. But it made a great picture. All of the dental students also wore giant teeth on their caps.
At around noon, there was a luncheon, a slideshow, and then the diplomas were handed out. It was a great afternoon, the food was great, and once Pete walked across that stage, I felt a huge sense of relief! He's done! What a feeling (for both of us)!

Monday morning we got up at the crack of dawn to go fishing on Lake Michigan. It was prety cold, but we had a great time. We caught 12 fish total, about 6 rainbow trout and 6 king salmon. We each got to pull in 1 or 2 fish, I pulled in 3 (that's because I am an amazing fisher-woman!) That evening we had a barbeque and invited anyone who wanted fish to come over.







Tuesday morning the families left, and we went back to a somewhat normal life. The kids were excited that we were home, because they hadn't seen us for three days. We didn't take them to any of the events to save ourselves some sanity.
So thanks to all who have supported Pete through these past 4 years. They have been insanely difficult for both of us, but we made it. And we are so thrilled!
