A Little Taste Of Prague....

OK.... Our trip to Prague was AMAZING.

And I can't wait to show you some awesome photos.

However, I have over 700 of them to sort through/delete/edit before I can post them, plus I will have to do it in a series of posts because the enormous amount of them!

So for now, here is a shot of the Prague Castle/Cathedral from Thursday night.

I mentioned in my 365 post that we were able to grab a whole bunch of free stuff last week. We got it all from a family moving back to the states, and leaving most of their stuff behind. Among the loot were these two very old Bibles. Pete claimed these, but as soon as our missionaries saw them, Pete gave them up. Pete was able to bring home a few old medical books dating back to the early 1900's, but these Bibles date back to the 1880's.

Each one has pictures, and if you run your fingers on them, you can feel the raised areas of the pictures from the original press.

The spines and bindings of each are cracked and falling apart.

There are family names still in one, and in the other the names had been removed.

We spent about an hour researching the publishers of one of the books, just to get an idea of when and where it was published.

And of course, I took pictures.

Lots of them.

This angel is at the front of one of the Bibles. There is no name given to this angel in the caption below it, however, for those of you familiar with the Mormon faith, the description given hints toward this being the Angel Moroni.

Each page of one book had a picture on it. The other book had pictures periodically throughout it.

Giant clasps to hold it shut, which don't work anymore due to warping of the cover.

I loved this page. The colors were still so bright, despite it's 130+ years.

The book was actually so big that I had to lean back to support it while I was standing.

Day 64, March 5

Pizza Casserole.

My kids liked this because it tasted like pizza.

Day 65, March 6

Last week when I went to the crystal factory, I foolishly took Cooper with me. Actually, it wasn't that bad, but he got pretty cranky near the end. So one of the workers reached behind the counter and pulled out this little ornament. They probably have a stash of them for just such an occasion. I didn't look at it until I got home, and realized that it was from 2000.

Pete and I celebrated "Our First Christmas" in 2000.

Day 66, March 7

This one is just for Uncle Chris.

Day 67, March 8

I had a plan for my picture today.

Ten years ago on this day Pete and I kissed for the first time.

I was going to set up the camera and take a picture of the two of us... kissing.

Well, then the missionaries from our church came over, and we were all busy until late at night, and I knew it just wasn't going to happen.

So instead, I caught this action shot.

The missionaries knife was a toy.

Pete's was not.

**No missionaries were harmed in the taking of this picture**

Day 68, March 9

Last week we were lucky enough to be given a whole lot of free stuff.

I mean A. Lot.

One of the free items was a huge weight bench and a bunch of weights. Pete and I have wanted one forever, so we have been giddy over it.

These are the baby weights, or at least some of them.

The big guns are on the other side of the room.

Day 69, March 10

Annie's friend Andrew came over to play. Now Andrew only has a brother, so there are no girl toys at his house. So when he comes over here, he is bombarded with Barbies and tea sets and dress up clothes. He has no problem dressing up like Spiderman and then adding a little Hello Kitty bling. Of course, Annie helped him along the whole way.

Cooper just thought he needed to be part of the group.

Day 70, March 11

My friend Tera needed some new shoes, and she dragged me along (with a big excited smile on my face the whole time.... I love looking at shoes). I ran into these cuties on clearance and couldn't resist.

Pete and I have made a deal, that I can buy a pair of shoes as long as I get rid of one.

Luckily I just got rid of three pairs.

Anyone wanna go shoe shopping?

On a side note: Pete was supposed to leave today for his deployment, however, it has been pushed back to some time in May. I'm grateful he gets to stay longer, but sad that he will be gone longer into the year, and miss some of the holidays.

And on another note: I will be in Prague next week (I know, you're all jealous) when I should be posting my 365. I will skip next week and double up the next week!

Why Would Pillsbury Do This To Me?

I mean, seriously.

Don't they already know my addiction to all things baked, especially cupcakes.

Why did they have to go and make the act of baking cupcakes and frosting them even easier.

Thanks, Pillsbury, for trying to make my life a little better.....

PhotoStory Friday: Crystal!

This morning I took an impromptu trip with some of my neighbors to a crystal factory about ten minutes from my house. I don't own any crystal, and since I live here in Germany, where it is so cheap, I decided it was time for me to change that.

I could've bought everything in the store, seriously. It was all so beautiful! I was proud of myself in the end, and didn't spend very much at all (and yes, Pete will be really proud...er...glad as well).

I didn't get to enjoy it as much as I could have, though. I chose to take Cooper (yes, I am a brave woman) so most of my time was spent watching him and keeping him from touching it all. Next time, I'll get a babysitter.

I have a thing for blue, and I could've taken a million pictures of this stuff.

And then I saw all the other colors! Aghhh!

Oh, good ole' blue. It's so amazingly beautiful.

Day 57, February 26

We had a very short, very quick storm blow through this evening. I don't even think it rained; it was just uber-windy. A few minutes later, as I was washing dishes, I was greeted by this rainbow outside the kitchen window.

Please don't look closely at this shot. I realized today that there is a spot on my lens. Grrrr.....

Day 58, February 27

I noticed Pete's uniform hanging on the rail as I was cleaning. I have been meaning to take a picture of the flag on his sleeve since I learned he was deploying. Once he goes into war, the flag he wears will be a tannish-green, to match the uniform.

And it will stay that way.

You can always tell if a soldier has been deployed by looking at the flag on his arm.

Also, if you are wondering, the picture is not backwards.

The flag is reversed on the uniform, so that the stars always lead into battle.

Day 59, February 28

All of the snow here has melted, and it's also been raining a lot. This combination has made for a few flooded rivers.

The river is actually only the portion underneath the buildings, but you can see the flooding.

It's really not that bad, but it looks cool, right?

Day 60, March 1

This is the fence in my backyard.

The very quick storm that left the beautiful rainbow also tore down my fence.

In more than one spot.

Oh, and it "almost blew Cooper away" according to Annie.

Day 61, March 2

I was messing around with the mirrors in my hallways, and decided to put myself in the shot.

I shot at a mirror, which reflected a mirror, which reflected the mirror in the bathroom, which showed the star hanging in front of it.

Maybe this would have been cooler if I weren't in it....

Day 62, March 3

Honey-Lime Grilled Pork.

I always use this marinade for chicken, however on this night I was in the mood for pork.

As I was waiting to pick Noah up from school today, I noticed the sun rays shining through the clouds. I stuck the camera out the window of the car, took a bunch of pictures, and then looked away from the camera to see my neighbor standing there staring at me.

A little odd....

But funny.

I get a lot of weird looks lately because of this 365 thing....
