Rothenburg is known as a Christmas village, of sorts. One of the largest Kathy Wolfahrt stores is here. I'm sad I never got to see a Christmas Market here.

We sat on these steps in Market Square hoping to catch a display when the clock struck the hour. No such luck. We did find some very cold bottled water, though.
St. Jakob's Church. This is where the Altar of the Holy Blood, a statue claiming to hold a scrap of tablecloth stained with wine in the shape of a cross, is found. The statue is 500 years old.

St. George's Fountain.
The city is surrounded by a wall, built back in the 1400's. The wall goes just over a mile and a half, and you can walk most of it.
At the end of the day, we bought a few of city's famous "schneeballs" or snowballs. It was basically pie crust rolled into a ball and covered in all sorts of yummy goodness. Mmmm.....
Hats are always fun, too.
