PhotoStory Friday: New Stuff

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and Robyn

We bought ourselves some new furniture.
Really Big Furniture.
In fact, we had to rent a truck to bring it home.
We stared at the pieces for an hour before we figured out where to start.
Three and a half hours later, we were done.
It's not antique, but who cares, right?

My favorite part: The rounded glass doors.

And the cool keys that lock everything.

And the detail in the carving.

Did I mention it's huge?

**Update on deployment**
We have learned a little more, however most of it is still classified, so until we know that we are able to share, it has to stay hush-hush.
I can say that he is leaving sometime in March.
We sat down to plan out the rest of the month, and realized we have no time left. Ug.
I'll post more as I am allowed.

Project 365, Week 5

365
Hosted by Chris

I have to apologize for this week's set of pictures. It was a rough week, and I have deployment on the brain.... forgive me.

Day 29, January 29
I made a birthday cake for a good friend. After taking lots of shots, I chose this one because I figured this is how Cooper, my two-year old, sees cakes from his level.

Day 30, January 30
Sleepy baby.
When he scrunches up in his carseat, his beanie always gets pushed up to the top of his head.
Occasionally, when he is awake and it happens, I hear a very frantic scream: "I can't see anyfeeeeng!"

Day 31, January 31
My church.
In German, this says:
Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints.
Our church is an old dance club. Every now and then, a bus full of tourists stops and takes a picture of our church. Why, you ask? Because Elvis sang here.

I MADE IT A WHOLE MONTH!!!!!!

Day 32, February 1
There is a Metzgerei on every block in this country, I swear.
It's a butchery (is that a word?) and a deli. Standing at this one, I can turn around, walk 30 seconds, and be at another one.

Day 33, February 2
Since The Groundhog is in the states, I didn't know until about 9 p.m. whether he saw his shadow or not. Either way, it's still going to be winter here for a loooong time.

Day 34, February 3
We were practicing making hearts with our hands.
That's all.

Day 35, February 4
Chocolate Covered Meatballs.

Seriously... how sick would that be?
Ok, these are chocolate covered oreo balls. My sister-in-law, Sharon, made these while I was in Utah, and I fell in love. However, Pete doesn't care much for white chocolate, which is what they are supposed to be covered in. So I used the good ole' milk chocolate.
Want the recipe? Here it is.

This Little Girl Of Mine

I look at Annie and think, "Is that what I was like as a kid?"
Everyone that knew me as a kid says that she is me all over again, and while I don't know what I was like then, I do know what I am like now.
Knowing that, and knowing her, I can see it.

We are stubborn.
We have big, pinch-able cheeks.
We don't pass up ice cream.
We have dark brown eyes.
We are loud.

We laugh at everything, even when it's not appropriate.
We sing as loud as we can, even if we don't know the words.
We love a good pair of shoes.
We are a bit insane at times.....

We like to yell.
We cannot go a day without dancing.
We love Dr. Pepper.
We have naturally curly locks; mine were once blonde like hers, and hers are getting darker like mine.
We love Pete madly.

And we like hats.

Bundle Up, Boys

After school on Tuesday, Noah headed outside to play in some of the new snow, and Cooper tagged along. It has taken me about two months to convince Cooper that his snow gear is ok to wear, so when he wants to put it on, we put it on as quickly as we can.

I LOVE this smile.

Once all of his snow gear is on, he can barely move...

...but he sure is cute.

At the bottom of a very small snow slide.

Happy Birthday, Matt!!

Right now you are thinking, "who's Matt? They don't have a kid named Matt."

You're right, we don't.
However we do have a friend named Matt, a good friend in fact, who has become the 6th member of our family.
We met Matt back in September, about a month after we arrived. Matt arrived in September as well, and it turns out we have a lot in common.
Matt is from Centerville, UT, not far from where Pete grew up.
His older brothers were good friends with Pete's friends when they were growing up, and Pete actually hung out with those brothers.
Matt's mom is a physical therapist, and works with one of my good friends, who is also a physical therapist.
And the list keeps going.
We celebrated Matt's 21st birthday with Cafe Rio for dinner and confetti cake for dessert (that was Matt's request).
The kids requested candy letters for the cake.

Apparently, Matt couldn't wait for me to cut the cake. He dove right in.

PSF/Project 365, Week 4

365
Hosted by Chris

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily

Sorry everyone... I'm lazy, so I combined the two this week.

Day 22, January 22
The one part of my camera that never gets any credit...

Day 23, January 23
We bought some furniture today. It's very large. It's also very detailed. Once it's all put in it's place, I'll make sure to post pictures.

Day 24, January 24
More food.
Peach Pork Chops and Rice.
I made enough to feed an army.
It was all eaten. By missionaries.
Want to make it? Here's the recipe.

Day 25, January 25
The ONLY picture I took the whole day.
And Coop's eyes look slightly evil.

Day 26, January 26
I pulled off to the side of the road and snapped a few pictures. The thing about Bavaria is that there are so many roads and trails to take, and you may not have a clue where you are going to end up.

Day 27, January 27
I have wanted to take a picture of this for a while now. It is at the entrance to a city called Mantel, which is a city I drive through almost every day. In fact, the city itself might be my favorite so far. Maybe it's just the road I drive. It's seems so old to me, although I don't think it's much older than the city that I live in. This is the city where you can always find the old man walking around in his leiderhosen. It's awesome.

Day 28, January 28
Breaks Up Mucus.
Can you tell by the picture where this sticker was placed?
Pete and I have had an on-going "joke" involving this sticker. It came off of a cough syrup bottle. We take turns sticking it somewhere for the other person to find. It has made it on to bars of soap, deodorant, ring holders, inside drawers, toothbrushes and combs.
But my last place was the best.
The reaction on his part involved a very loud laugh.

Just Wanted To Mention...

It's really cold (but really pretty) here.
