In the city of Bastogne is this Star Memorial. It displays the names of all fifty states, as well as the story of the Battle of the Bulge.
We were only able to see the memorial and not the museum. There was a fire recently in the museum, so they were renovating. It was worth the drive to see it.
Just outside the memorial, in the parking lot, was this old tank. Of course, it was the highlight for the kids.
And yes, Noah did fall off of this later on. Not like this though. From the top- it was a nasty fall.
We drove all over the place looking for the WWII museum we had read about, because the directions we had were terrible. Everywhere we stopped, people had no idea what we were talking about. So we decided to bag the idea, and as we were leaving Pete noticed a tiny sign leading us to the museum.
Yep, I took pictures even though that little sign says not to.
I loved seeing all the 101st Airborne Division patches. 101st was Pete's first Duty Station in the Army.
A Milwaukee, WI dog tag. Kind of a piece of home. Kind of.
After that we attempted to find the road that the soldiers took years ago, and ended up in the city of Liege, Belgium. And no, we didn't ever find the road we were looking for.
But we did find waffles. Not the same waffles you find in Brugge, but they were still yummy.
And we figured since we were there, we'd go see the Cathedral.
Yep, there's a really important dead guy in there.
