This year we were able to visit three Christmas Markets. If you ever visit Germany during the Christmas season, you have to visit at least one of these. They are actually all over Europe, and I am hoping to go to at least one outside of Germany next Christmas.
The first was the Weiden Christmas Market, right here in our little town. This is small compared to some others; it would be considered more of an Advent Market. Every year, the church is turned into a giant Advent, and each day one of the numbered windows opens, revealing someone playing a trumpet.
This little gang was actually the highlight for me. They are straight out of the 80's.
I tired to take a picture of the church, but Coop got in the way....

The kids are drinking warm Kinderpunsch, which is the non-alcoholic version of the drink only sold at Christmas time, called Gluhwein.
He was so into this little merri-go-round.
The second Market we attended was in Schloss Guteneck. This one was medieval themed, with many knights and maidens walking around. The highlight of this was the camel rides.
There was a very small stable, with a few animals, and this little manger. This might be my favorite picture from this Christmas. It's so symbolic of the entire reason for Christmas.
Noah was so mesmerized by this blacksmith. He even told him that he wanted to be a blacksmith when he grew up.
Annie picked up some maiden apparel, and the boys each got a wooden sword.
We went inside the main building to warm up and a have a snack.
And the last Market was the Nuremburg Market, which is the largest in Bavaria. It encompassed the entire downtown area of the city.
Who can tell me what's out of place in this picture?

Of course, we had to buy treats.
There were so many vendors with amazing things. We decided on a very small wooden sled to be used for decoration and for some of my photo shoots, as well as a wooden Christmas pyramid.

There were also a few animals as we left, and we decided to stop and feed them.

I love these kind of posts from you! I enjoyed the 365 project, but really missed posts about where you are, where you've been, and what your family is doing.
So sad we missed out on these. Next year, next year. That shot of Cooper (at least I think it was him) watching the merry-go-round is so awesome! You got so many great pictures.

By the way: The picture where your son jumped in, it shows the medieval town-hall, you see the church when you turn 180 degrees around to the other side :)
