Our Christmas Eve was pretty relaxed. I did a lot of baking, getting ready for Christmas day, so that I wouldn't have to make anything that day. It paid off. All I did was put stuff in the oven, already made.
The kids put together some stocking crafts, thanks to Grandma Ruth. They had a lot of fun, and the stockings are still hanging up.
Our Christmas Eve tradition is to let the kids open their presents from each other. They each picked out one gift for their siblings, and I think each gift was a winner. Noah got a Bionicle (lego), Annie got a new stuffed kitty, and Cooper got a Thomas the Train.
We also let them open their gifts from Grandma Ruth, only because they were itching to open something else! They each got a pair of gloves. Noah wore his all night long, and all of Christmas day.
My favorite moment of the night was definitely Cooper playing with his new train. He loves it, and calls it by it's full name always: Thomas "de" Train.
We left some sugar cookies for Santa and a few carrots for the reindeer, and Noah left him a little note and a candy cane. When Pete mentioned that he thought he heard sleigh bells on the roof, the kids bolted up the stairs... it kind of reminded me of the scene from The Christmas Story, when Ralphie and Randy are pushing each other as they make their way up the stairs. There was no fighting or whining when the kids went to bed. We were so excited to have one night out of the whole year for that!
